A few of the companies we rate

A deliberately focused list of quality dividend payers. About 100 are refreshed every year, and member requests help decide which come first.

Why Premium

Built for European dividend investors

Most dividend safety ratings are built for American investors. You live in Europe, but your portfolio probably doesn't stop at the border: Nestlé next to Visa, Ahold Delhaize next to McDonald's. We rate both with the same method, so a Dutch grocer and an American one sit on one scale.

A dividend safety score

From 0 to 100, built on five questions and ten years of figures. One look tells you whether the dividend is likely to hold.

A fair value against today's price

Discounted cash flow, dividend discount model and Geraldine Weiss yield bands, so you know when a good company is also a good price.

The dividend policy and credit rating

What management has promised, and how strong the balance sheet is that has to pay for it. Rarely found in one place for European companies.

An update when our view changes

A stock update whenever a score or fair value moves, so you're never relying on an old view.

Our method

Five questions behind every safety score

A practical framework from our own investing, built for one goal: a dividend you can rely on, rather than the highest total return. Each stock card answers the questions with ten years of figures and turns them into one dividend safety score from 0 to 100.

Data you can check

A score is only as good as the dividends under it

Many European companies pay an interim and a final dividend, the final only after the year has closed. Add those up by calendar year, as most databases do, and you get jumps and cuts that never happened. We count each payment in the fiscal year it belongs to. New payments are flagged until we've checked them.

What many databases show: a 59% jump in 2019 and a 14% cut in 2021. Ahold Delhaize, EUR per share. Source: EODHD.

For US companies the dividend history is usually simpler: one payment each quarter. There the value is the same safety score and fair value, on the same scale as your European stocks.
